"Health Care Agency Sick", The Boston Herald

In case you missed it, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney was beat up over this story the other night during the debate. Despite the claim that his healthcare legislation is working well in Massachusetts and the only state residents affected by the individual mandate penalties are those who remain uninsured, the facts speak otherwise. This article explains how law-abiding Massachusetts residents are being tormented by state lawmakers even when they are compliant with the burdensome regulations of "Obamacare Light", also known as RomneyCare.

"the state must establish if her family could afford other, better insurance, and that affordability is determined “not, unfortunately, from your perspective but from the state agency’s view.”
In other words, the state decides how much health insurance you can afford — not you".

"Romney's Obamacare Paternity Test", Wall Street Journal Video

In this WSJ video interview, D4PC strategic partner, Grace Marie Turner of the Galen Institute, discusses the similarities between the president's healthcare law and Mitt Romney's plan in Massachusetts. She also specifies practical solutions to implement after repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

"Americans Increasingly Think Repeal Is Likely", The Weekly Standard

"The entire machinery of the coverage provisions — the individual mandate, the Medicaid expansion, the employer requirements — is entirely fueled by federal money (in the form of both subsidies and penalties). Moreover, the state exchanges and the regulatory apparatus they are intended to impose are also financed by federal taxpayers. Repeal of all of these provisions, which are the guts of Obamacare, is plainly a budgetary matter, and therefore appropriate in reconciliation.”

The key is to have a president who would sign such a bill into law. Thus, the key to repeal — as it’s always been — will be to replace President Obama.

"Creating Health 'Exchange' Entrenches Obamacare", Mackinac.org

The nation's leading expert on state run "insurance exchanges" provides convincing testimony on all the reasons why individual states should not proceed in creating this expensive, bureaucratic Obamacare mandate. Michael Cannon's testimony needs to be forwarded to every state lawmaker in order to protect taxpayers and increase the likelihood of repeal of the entire law.

"Some opponents of the law nevertheless argue for creating an exchange so that states can be prepared in case the law is not overturned or repealed. Yet creating an exchange would entrench the law and make it less likely to be repealed or overturned.

The Obama administration is offering financial inducements to states to create exchanges because the administration knows that every new exchange helps them shield the law from Congress, the courts, and the American people. Creating an exchange is not a hedging-your-bets strategy but a sabotaging-your bets strategy".

"The Medicare Monster", The Weekly Standard

This is a long article, but a great summary of the imminent financial disaster posed by the Medicare entitlement program. More importantly, the author explains a reasonable solution to protect the nation's seniors who rely on Medicare while preserving the program for future generations.
