Opponents of the Affordable Care Act and the media fail to comprehend and explain the real threat to women and their health, which is indisputably the Obamacare law itself, in particular the Independent Payment Advisory Board. Is it possible that Ms. Fluke and many of her supporters emphasize women’s "reproductive rights" at the expense of the broader health issues effecting women?

Is a women’s right to choose not valuable or important when it comes to requiring a coronary artery stent, joint replacement or cataract surgery? What about having an MRI or CT scan? Or choosing from the various treatment options available if a woman is diagnosed with cancer? Are they at least as important as her “right” to obtain contraceptive coverage? Yet, the passage of the ACA and IPAB will now remove decision-making from women and their doctors to this unaccountable board, which will adopt standards of treatment based on the data used in systems such as the British National Health Service. The “rights” the president and Ms. Fluke claim women fought so hard for are not protected by the ACA, but are destroyed and replaced by government agencies that couldn’t care less about women’s health issues.
