The Whole Truth (Video By Texas D4PC Chapter Leaders, Jane Hughes, MD and Kris Held, MD)

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Docs 4 Patient Care Texas Chapter leaders, Jane Hughes, MD, and Kris Held, MD, independently produced this short video which refutes the claims made by Democrats that US Representative Paul Ryan's plan to save Medicare will hurt America's senior citizens. As we've demonstrated throughout this website and our social media pages, the only legislation that will weaken and destroy Medicare "as we know it" is the president's PPACA (Obamacare). As the doctors explain in this video, Obamacare calls for the cutting of $575 Billion out of the Medicare program and places unaccountable healthcare decision-making in the hands of the new Independent Payment Advisory Board.

D4PC finds this video provocative and informative and we are proud to promote projects that re-introduce the healthcare reform discussion and which provide the public with the viewpoint and perspective of the nation's "practicing" physicians.

In Case You Missed It: Democrats distort GOP Medicare plan

Thursday, June 02, 2011

Today, the AP published a shocking Fact Check article pointing out that "Democrats who accuse the GOP of wanting to 'end Medicare' have skipped past the complicated crux of that debate, instead attacking provisions that do not exist."

More below:

"Democrats are distorting the fundamentals of a Republican plan to reshape Medicare, falsely accusing the GOP of pushing a proposal that tells the elderly 'you're on your own' with health care and that lets insurers deny coverage to the sick.

"Medicare always pushes hot buttons with voters. Both parties know this and spare no effort to exploit the issue, with truth as the frequent casualty. That's the case now as Democrats go after a far- reaching plan introduced by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and largely embraced by congressional Republicans."

The Real Medicare Debate: Deciding Who Decides, Forbes.com

Sunday, May 15, 2011
This rise in overall medical expenses reinforced underlying demographic trends in pushing up Medicare costs.  Our society is aging, with a larger proportion of people who are elderly and living longer.  They require far more medical attention than younger Americans.  The combination is a fiscal atomic bomb.

NCPA: Obama, Ryan and You

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Analysis of the problems with the two main proposals for bringing down health care costs from the National Center for Policy Analysis. Bottom line: they won't.

"...let me be the first to open Pandora’s box and reveal three unpleasant truths.

"First, health care spending is growing at twice the rate of growth of our income — clearly an unsustainable and undesirable spending path.

"Second, any plan to reduce the growth rate of federal spending on health care without doing something about health care spending as a whole will necessarily shift costs — to the elderly, to the poor, to state governments, and to anybody other than the federal government.

"Third, neither party is offering a serious plan to control health care spending as a whole..."

Kathleen Spitzer:  Wall Street Journal

Another case of abuse of power by HHS Secretary Sebelius:

“This is a threat to every health CEO in America. If Forest wants to continue to sell its drugs to Medicare, Medicaid and the Veterans Administration -- the biggest buyers of pharmaceuticals -- it will have to change management. Losing the federal government as a customer is potentially crippling to a drug company.
